چکیده
This is the first of two articles which explore the comtained using the TM map. The performance of samples selected by a combination of cover composition and conbined use of coarse and fine resolution data in land cover studies. It describes the development and evaluation of tagion index responded to the characteristics of individual tiles in terms of the selection criteria. A rigorous applian objective procedure to select a representative sample of tiles of high resolution images that complements a cation of the algorithm with spatial heterogeneity measures such as the contagion index is computationally very decoarse resolution coverage of an entire region of interest. The second article explores the use of the procedure for manding. It is concluded that PSA provides an efficient and effective tool to select a representative sample for land an accurate estimation of cover type composition at the regional scale. The Purposive Selection Algorithm (PSA) cover studies in which both large area coverage and local detail are desired. Elsevier Science Inc., 2000 assumes that a relationship exists between land cover compositions at the two spatial scales. It selects one tile at a time, seeking the sample which most closely resembles the composition of the coarse resolution map. Two INTRODUCTION selection criteria were used, fraction of cover types and The interest in land cover analysis at regional to global contagion index. Selecting Representative High Resolution Sample Images for Land Cover Studies. Part 2: Application to Estimating Land Cover Composition
We tested the effectiveness of the Purposive Selection selected using the AVHRR tiles. A random sample was also selected for comparison. The domain AVHRR cover Algorithm (PSA, described in the companion first article) to accurately estimate land cover composition over a type fractions were then corrected using TM maps for the selected tiles, following the method of Walsh and Burk large area. 1:50000 land cover classification and mapping program is an important part of the mapping project in western China, which is organized by Chinese State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping Organization and will finish 5032 maps at scale of 1:50000 until 2010. With an average altitude of 4400 m, Sanjiangyuan mapping district is located at the center of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Because of complicate...
متن کاملLand Cover Subpixel Change Detection using Hyperspectral Images Based on Spectral Unmixing and Post-processing
The earth is continually being influenced by some actions such as flood, tornado and human artificial activities. This process causes the changes in land cover type. Thus, for optimal management of the use of resources, it is necessary to be aware of these changes. Today’s remote sensing plays key role in geology and environmental monitoring by its high resolution, wide covering and low cost...
متن کاملAutomated Land Cover Mapping and Independent Change Detection in Tropical Forest Using Multi-temporal High Resolution Data Set
An automatic method for land cover mapping and for detecting forest change has been designed for high resolution couples of image. The work is done on 20x20 km samples of 30 m resolution Landsat imagery. The methodology has been developed for two dates extracts but several couple of images can be compared. An automatic multi-date segmentation is applied on extracts pairs. Segmentation parameter...
متن کاملAutomatic Interpretation of UltraCam Imagery by Combination of Support Vector Machine and Knowledge-based Systems
With the development of digital sensors, an increasing number of high-resolution images are available. Interpretation of these images is not possible manually, which necessitates seeking for practical, fast and automatic solutions to solve the environmental and location-based management problems. The land cover classification using high-resolution imagery is a difficult process because of the c...
